Business Event Check List

At Frontman we specialise in designing and hosting events.  We make sure they are compelling, fast paced and engaging. Before running any event, consider:

  1. Bums on Seats
    What is the compelling reason for people to attend?  Have you got the right people and how do you make sure they really want to be there?  Personal invitations work best, outline what your guests will get from attending, the business value and what they will take back to their business.
  2. One Message
    Ask yourself the question – If your audience take one message away with them, what will it be?  Be very clear about what you want so say.  Your audience should leave in no doubt about what that message is.
  3. First Impressions
    The ‘meet and greet’ process is critical and must be seamless.  If people are put at ease when they arrive, they will be more open and receptive to what you have to say.
  4. Pace and Punch
    Keep it punchy and to time.  Energy will be created if you get into the action quickly, keep it fast paced and engaging.
  5. Leadership
    Who is the host?  This is the person who brings it all together, runs it tightly and keeps control.  Their role is critical to achieving the result you want.
  6. Speakers
    Brief them thoroughly.  Tell them who else is speaking, the overall objective of the event and how much time they have.
  7. Questions
    Should be managed by the host. Keep it moving; make sure you don’t get stuck on one question and keep control.
  8. Get Involved
    Make your events participative and they will stand out. If you get full audience engagement the energy of the room will increase dramatically.
  9. The Final Ten
    The Final Ten:  What happens in the last 10 minutes is critical.  This is where you bring it all together, get your audience focused, get feedback and wrap it all up with clarity and energy.
  10. Next Step
    Will the session notes, pod cast or video be available for viewing online?  You could use this collateral as part of your marketing – for the next session, as a means to continue the sales conversation and to strengthen your business relationships.
